Diabetic Foot Health

Living with Diabetes? Our goal is to promote good foot health

If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, you’ll be aware that you need to take extra care with your feet. This is because, over a long period of time, high glucose levels can cause damage to different areas of the body, including your legs and feet. The blood supply to feet can become reduced due to blockages or occlusions in your arteries. This can lead to pain in the legs when walking or at rest. The nerves in your feet can also become affected by high glucose levels, leading to a reduced perception to pain and temperature, eventually resulting in an insensate foot. Having a poor vascular supply and an insensate foot can increase your risk of developing a foot ulcer

Foot issues caused by Diabetes can be a significant risk to your health, so it is important for a qualified health professional to identify these risks and tailor a treatment plan to suit your individual needs.
